MDP filtration and natural evaporation for water-saving watering.
This product concept puts an MDP drainage and filtration system inside a smart plant pot to save water. It's like charging the pot: one cup of water lasts a long time.
How it works
Water stored in the base evaporates upward and returns to the soil as droplets. When room humidity falls, evaporation happens by itself. The aim is to stop the moisture escaping and send it back to the soil, so excess water from each watering is collected, stored and reused. It suits almost any indoor plant, especially those that don't need much sun.
MDP pipes inside the pot drain clean water straight from the soil into the reservoir at the bottom. A soil-moisture sensor tracks the soil, and an app reminds the owner when it's time to add water.
Why MDP
Conventional saucers don't recycle water. MDP's flexibility and stability make it a good fit for drainage and filtration at small scale, saving water while keeping supply steady. Pot sizes would vary to suit the height and size of each plant.
